A DRIVER caught speeding claimed he did so because there was a pick-up truck behind him “aggressively flashing his lights and indicating I should get a move on”.
Graham Baldrey (65) travelled at 35mph past the speed camera in the 30mph limit at Barrier Bank, Cowbit, on January 18.
In a letter to Spalding magistrates, Baldrey said the pick-up turned into a driveway just before the camera.
He said: “This is my first driving offence of any kind in over 48 years of driving.
“I feel the imposition of penalty points would be rather harsh.”
Baldrey, of Otago Close, Whittlesey, was fined £60, had his licence endorsed with three penalty points and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge at last week’s hearing.
He pleaded guilty.
