People worried about recent shed and garage break-ins across the Holbeach area can come to a crime prevention event in Whaplode next week.

A mobile police station will be outside JR Cycles, High Road, on Monday from 2pm when officers will be offering crime prevention tips and security marking packs.

The event is a response to a spate of break-ins where gardening equipment, tools and ornaments have been stolen.

Police received at least three reports of incidents on April 27 alone, including garden ornaments stolen in Saracen’s Head and iron gates taken from two houses in Whaplode.

Sgt Gareth Boxall of Holbeach and the Sutton Community Policing Team said: “We have increased patrols in the area, including officers in unmarked vehicles, and members of the public are reporting thefts and suspicious activity to us promptly.

“But I continue to ask members of the public to be vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious vehicles to us, especially at night.”
