Police are looking for thieves who stole almost 50 bags of potatoes from a farm in Holbeach Hurn.

It is thought that a vehicle was used in the theft which took place overnight between Monday evening and 7am on Tuesday when the thieves got inside the barn and stole 48 bags of potatoes on a pallet.

Each bag weighs about 25kgs and a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “These bags are only sold to a small number of outlets, primarily in the fish and chip industry, and are not available for the public to buy.

“Anyone who sees sacks like these for sale is asked to contact PC Tim Newell on 101, stating incident 25 of February 11.”
