Police are warning people to lock up after two cars were stolen in South Holland where thieves walked into homes and took the keys.
Two homes in London Road, Spalding, were targeted in the early hours of Tuesday when a green BMW 530D touring estate, registration number RY02 FAA, was stolen from one of the homes. Insp Jim Tyner, community policing inspector for South Holland, said: “It appears that the intention has been to steal car keys in order to take the cars parked outside. “On both occasions, the offender has simply walked in through an insecure door.” Previously, a Ford Galaxy was stolen from an unlocked house in West Pinchbeck where thieves were able to take away the keys. The car was eventually found abandoned in Langtoft. Insp Tyner said: “These are the first residential burglaries in Spalding since mid-September, but they were both preventable if the residents had locked their doors.” Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
