POLICE are warning car owners that personal number plates with narrow spacing make it less likely their vehicle will be found if stolen.
The warning follows the theft of a green Land Rover Freelander from Spalding Road, Crowland, on Monday.
Police automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras are sited across the county - but the spacing on number plates like the 4x4 stolen from Crowland, KON1F, is often too narrow for cameras to detect them.
The Freelander had been parked in Spalding Road all day but was missing when the owner returned to pick it up at 5pm.
Police are urging witnesses to contact Spalding Police Station on 0300 111 0300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
