Call for tighter scrap laws

A FORMER vicar of Spalding, Tim Barker, has called for tighter scrap metal laws to stop thieves raiding lead off church roofs and targeting other businesses.

Mr Barker, now Archdeacon of Lincoln, said: “We need tighter legislation on scrap metal dealers to stop cash transactions. What we need is to know who is bringing metal in and if it is stolen from churches, power companies or the railways.”

Lincolnshire Police say the thefts are having a massive impact on our heritage.
