BURGLARS stole radiators and copper pipes in a raid on an unoccupied commercial building in Long Sutton’s High Street last week.
Police are warning business people and homeowners to keep an eye on empty premises because they may be targeted as scrap metal values remain high.
Crime reduction officer Pc Nic Hanson said: “Empty houses and buildings can be a magnet for metal thieves who can sometimes cause significant damage when they steal pipework – and the financial consequences of any resulting flood can often be greater than the value of the items stolen.”
People seeking crime prevention advice can contact Pc Hanson on the new police number, 101.
The Long Sutton raid was discovered on Friday and could have taken place at any time within the previous seven days.
