A drink-driver was caught by police when they saw the boot of his car open.

Lydon Smithers (26), of Bath Close, Bourne, admitted drink-driving after he was stopped by police in The Pollards, Bourne, on June 25.

Prosecuting, Daniel Paulson said Smithers had several passengers with him and he smelled of alcohol.

He failed a roadside breath test and gave a reading of 74 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 20 months and fined him £350. Other costs totalled £270.
