Arson attack at Spalding pub

ARSONISTS have targeted a former Spalding pub.

Fire swept through The Anchor in Commercial Road in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Two fire crews from Spalding and one from Holbeach were called out at about 1.20am.

They used two hose reel jets, two main jets and two sets of breathing apparatus to put out the fire.

The building has been left severely damaged by fire and water. The area around the pub has now been cordoned off by police.

The pub is believed to have been closed and boarded up for a number of weeks.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said the cause was believed to be deliberate.
