Warning to town cyclists
CYCLISTS are being warned to secure their bikes when they visit Spalding town centre.
Police say there has been an increase in the number of thefts in the town.
A distinctive 20-inch frame mountain bike has been among the latest to be taken.
The bike was taken from a patch of grass next to the river on Commercial Road, where the owner had left the cycle insecure for five minutes at about 9pm on October 21 and returned to find it gone.
It is described as having a cream frame, green front forks, front suspension, “Stu” stamps all over the frame, black wheels, short black handlebars and a big grey metal chain around the seat.
Anyone with information or any cyclists who would like security information should call PC Scott McCaig on 0300 1110300.

Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 04:28 PMI agree perhaps the police can educate the motorists. I cycle daily along Spalding and Pinchbeck Road, It can be quite an experience with cars passing in excess of the 40MPH limit! I do not encourage my children to ride on these roads however I do expect them to be courteous to pedestrians.

Friday, November 4, 2011 at 08:45 PMyou are just asking for trouble if you don't lock your bike up when you leave it. And come on, down Commercial Road too. Hardly one of the best roads in town, especially with the Euro Bar there.

Friday, November 4, 2011 at 05:24 PMYes I agree bertie65. Furthermore, now the dark evenings are with us I expect to see the normal numbers dressed in black with no lights. More to the point, if I don't see then they could end up under my wheels. This area just amazes me that so few cyclists wear safety helmets.
