Six arrested after illegal immigrant swoop

Suspected illegal immigrants spotted running from a lorry parked in Moulton sparked a police search of the village and resulted six arrests.

Police were informed of ‘suspicious activity’ by a resident at 11.10am yesterday.

The caller reported seeing several men coming out of the back of a lorry parked in Long Lane, heading towards the village.

Sgt Stuart Hurst said: “As a result of the tip-off six police cars were called to the scene.

“Four of the men were found in Hallgate and the arrests were made within 45 minutes.”

Five men were arrested on suspicion of being illegal immigrants and another on suspicion of facilitating the crime.

They are being held at Boston and Grantham police stations, where they are being interviewed by immigration officials.
