A teenager was threatened by a man with a knife as he walked to the bus station after school.

The 14-year-old student at Spalding Grammar School had finished lessons and was walking towards the bus station on Winfrey Avenue when he was approached by a man who began shouting at him.

The man, who is believed to be about 40 years old, then produced a knife and threatened the boy, who managed to get away and find help before reporting it to police.

It happened at about 4pm last Tuesday and police describe the man as white, medium build, with medium length brown hair and wearing light coloured baggy jeans, thick soled black Adidas trainers and a khaki coloured coat.

He spoke with an English accent and used a number of slang words.

Nigel Ryan, headmaster of Spalding Grammar School, said: “Last Tuesday after school, one of our boys was verbally abused by a 40-year-old man while on his way to the bus station.

“The man also threatened the boy with a knife before he got himself into the company of others.

“On Wednesday, I asked form tutors to discuss the incident with students and talk through how to deal with and avoid dangers.

“We also alerted other secondary schools in Spalding and as a result of this alert, a witness from another school has come forward.”
