Drinker gets 18 month drive ban

Police spotted a driver going “a little too quickly” in Spalding’s Station Road, stopped him to give advice and then discovered he had been drinking.

Edgaras Buzas (29), of King’s Road, Spalding, had 65 microgrammes of alcohol in breath – 30 above the legal limit – when tested at a police station.

Buzas was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge when he appeared before Spalding magistrates on Thursday.

Buzas can cut four months off the ban if he completes a rehabilitation course.

He admitted driving with excess alcohol on January 13.

Buzas told magistrates: “I want to say I apologise. It won’t happen again.”

Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said police stopped Buzas’s silver VW when it was travelling “a little too quickly for the environment”.
