Cash for goods scam warning

editorial image

South Holland residents are being warned not to fall for a cash for goods scam being carried out across Lincolnshire.

Supermarket car parks, shopping centres and petrol stations are some of the locations recently targeted by con artists trying to trick unsuspecting victims out of their cash.

One method involves someone offering a person either a watch or gold ring before asking them for cash to buy petrol to get to an airport or hospital.

But the goods themselves are fake and have no value.

Gill Finn, community safety officer for Lincolnshire Police, said: “Despite us giving out alerts on this current scam, we are still receiving numerous reports of these individuals targeting members of the public all across Lincolnshire.

“If you have been a victim of this scam, please call 101.”
