New council houses in Surfleet are on schedule for completion early next year.

South Holland District Council is currently working on three sites throughout the district, with a fourth due to get under way next month.

Ward member Coun Liz Sneath and portfolio holder for housing landlord, Coun Christine Lawton, made a site visit to see progress on two pairs of two-bedroom properties being built by Broadgate Homes in Coalbeach Lane South, Surfleet.

Coun Lawton said: “The houses are an attractive design – they will make a welcome addition to our housing stock.

“It’s very satisfying that South Holland District Council has been able to continue its programme of building council houses.

“These are much-needed affordable homes, all built by local firms for local people.”

Further council house developments are ongoing at Wrights Lane, Sutton Bridge (by Langwith Builders) and Millfield Gardens, Crowland (by D Brown Building Contractors Ltd). A second Broadgate Homes site – at Puddingpoke Lane, Lutton – is scheduled to start in November.
