SOUTH Holland District Council chairman Coun Mick Seymour was in Sutton Bridge on Tuesday to officially ‘open’ a new seat in Railway Lane South.

Supplied by Statech, the seat had a thorough road test – Coun Seymour laid back and stretched out full length to assess its comfort.

The seat was bought by ward councillors Michael Booth and Chris Brewis from their designated councillors’ budgets and each of them paid a little over £500.

Coun Brewis decorated the seat with pink ribbons for the opening.

Coun Booth said residents wanted the seat as the road is on a route used by walkers, many of whom are elderly and they need somewhere to rest.

He said: “It’s something people have asked for.”
