Applications are now being accepted for those who would like to be the first ever Tulip Queen.
The Tulip Queen will be an ambassador for the South Holland area but will also win several prizes and opportunities.
Whoever is chosen to be the Tulip Radio Tulip Queen 2014 will be invited to local events such as Pinchbeck Carnival, People’s Parade, Tulipmania, the Pumpkin Parade, openings of businesses and other events including carnivals, fetes and luncheons to name a few.
Jan Whitbourn of Tulip Radio said: “It is a great opportunity for the lady to attend many events in the community.”
Another exciting prize will be a fitted dress of the Tulip Queen’s choice from Fancy Frox in Spalding.
Karen Povey, of Fancy Frox, said: “We’re so pleased Tulip Radio will be continuing with the tradition of the Tulip Queen, it has such a history in our area and it is great to know that future young girls will get to enjoy and benefit from the experience.
“We at Fancy Frox are going to have about an hour to select, fit and dress the newly appointed Tulip Radio Tulip Queen on the day and are looking forward to this challenge, but the winner can be assured she will be in safe hands and look amazing in her beautiful dress.”
Fashion is top on the list of prizes, as Hills Department Store will be providing the Tulip Queen with a day dress.
Gavin Allmand said: “We think it is wonderful that Spalding once again has such an ambassador for the town and we are delighted to be able to support and be involved. Christmas is a wonderful time for everyone and to introduce the Tulip Queen to participate in the Spalding Christmas Lights Switch-On adds further to the event.”
