Hopefully all your readers will have noticed the lovely hanging baskets and troughs which some of the town’s businesses have sponsored this year.
Members and friends of the Spalding in Bloom committee have also been busy planting and weeding some of the flower beds to make the town more attractive for residents and visitors.
Other groups have undertaken litter picks and we have been pleased to have been joined by some members from Spalding Chamber of Commerce and Tulip Radio.
Most will recall that, last year, when the East Midlands in Bloom judges visited Spalding, we were awarded a Gold award to reflect our efforts throughout the year.
This year, we are being judged on Tuesday, July 14, commencing at around 1.45pm, when we hope to match or improve on last year’s scoring.
Please can you help us. Between now and then, if you own, work or run a business in the town, would you and your staff please remove weeds from outside your premises and ensure that the footpath and roads near you are also litter free.
I would like to thank everyone for their support again this year, including the grounds maintenance and cleansing team at South Holland District Council and Lincolnshire County Council’s highways team.
Anything we can do together to encourage more people to shop in Spalding will be better for our local economy.
Many thanks again to for your help and support.
