COUNCILLORS are seeking public comments on a plan to extend Holbeach conservation area to include the cemetery and its chapels as well as surrounding buildings north of the town.
South Holland District Council planning committee agreed the plan should go to public consultation before coming back to them for formal adoption.
Holbeach ward member Coun Rita Rudkin told the planning committee: “We seem in Holbeach to have waited quite a while for this small miracle to occur.”
The extension will cover the WI hall and Coun Rodney Grocock declared a prejudicial interest at Tuesday night’s planning meeting and left the room.
Coun Grocock said he had been asked to quote for uPVC windows for the hall, adding: “They won’t be able to have new uPVC windows if it goes into the conservation area.”
l The original conservation area was designated in 1970 and covers the central historic area around the Grade I listed church.
