A new look for New Look

New Look, the UK-wide fashion multiple, gave Spalding a vote of confidence as a shopping centre by rebranding its store in the Market Place this week.

The store re-opened on Wednesday after a major refit which closed it down for three trading days from the end of Saturday.

The familiar New Look logo on the sign has been changed, the window space has been closed off to enable staff to design proper window displays and posts and fittings along the walls have been moved to provide more display space inside.

New Look has been in the same premises at Spalding for 18 years since it first opened in the town.

Branch manager Emily Davison said: “We in Spalding are one of the first small stores in relatively small towns to get the benefit of rebranding, and it’s because we’re seen to be quite successful.

“New Look calls it ‘brand protection’ as it rolls out the changes first made to the big city stores to the smaller towns, starting with profitable branches like ours.

“The Peterborough store underwent a massive change last year and at the same time as us around now they’ve been doing up Saffron Waldon, Biggleswade and Cambridge.

“We’re able to carry more stock and more variety now with a bit more freedom of movement and at last we can make a proper shop window display.

“We weren’t closed for long but our regular customers were missing us and we’ve been very busy since we re-opened.

“These have been tough times but Spalding’s holding up well.”
