Volunteers are needed to make South Holland cleaner and greener by taking part in a litter pick next week.

A Summer Spruce Up is taking place at Spalding Skate Park in Fulney Avenue on Thursday August 21 from 10am until 2pm.

Representatives from organisations in the area will be joining in with this community effort to tidy up the skate park

But as well as the litter pick, there will also be stalls offering advice on housing, waste and recycling.

Coun Roger Gambba-Jones, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for waste management, said: “We all hate the sight of litter on our streets, in our parks and open spaces.

“I often hear people saying ‘somebody should do something’, so now there is a chance to be a ‘somebody’ and help us blitz the rubbish at one of our most prominent litter hotspots.

“This is also a great opportunity to meet other local people who are committed to doing their bit to care for our town and our district.”
