Donington will have 39 new houses and 12 apartments built on the E and S Forklift Sales site in Malting Lane, after developers went back to the drawing board and re-designed the layout.

Westleigh Developments Ltd and New Hall Park Ltd adopted changes suggested by South Holland District Council’s planning committee and were granted planning consent on Wednesday.

Changes include a longer roadway, capable of being “adopted” by the highways authority and allowing more kerb-side rubbish collections, and an acoustic fence to help stop potential complaints about noise from a nearby haulage yard.

All of the apartments have one bedroom, 15 of the houses have three bedrooms and 24 have two bedrooms.

The new homes will be arranged around a central open space

Coun Christine Lawton welcomed the one and two bedroom properties the district is “particularly short of”.
