Long Sutton RBL members have been rewarded for their dedication at the branch’s five-yearly Poppy Appeal long service awards.
The awards were presented by the Lincolnshire chairman Tony Godwin to Ray Ketteringham (a service bar for over 35 years), Wendy Jeffries and Barbara Button (service brooches for 30 years), DavidNewton (service badge for 20 years), Larry Dench and Mr and Mrs Masters (service brooch for 15 years). Mr and Mrs P Mason were presented with 15-year service brooches in their absence. Bernard Hales and Ian Durrant received framed service certificates . The Peele Community College and the Long Sutton ACT each received framed certificates of appreciation for their work in support of the appeal, which has enabled the students to understand conflicts past and present and the impact these have on families. Thanks also went to the women for preparing the refreshments, Roy Ashton for the taking the photographs and all those who took part in last year’s Poppy Appeal, including Lloyds bank staff and all those who helped count the money that was collected. This year the Long Sutton contribution to the Poppy Appeal is more than £6,500.
