Youngsters from Cowbit St Mary Rainbows and Brownies did their bit to keep Spalding tidy by going on a litter pick around the town’s Coronation Channel.

The half-term holidays was a perfect time for the group, dressed in flourescent jackets and armed with litter pickers, to show their intention to be environmentally-friendly as youngsters, parents and leaders cleared up rubbish along the canalside.

Carol Pearce, one of the leaders, said: “We had an email from our regional leader who had organised an environmental day for Rainbow and Brownie groups in the area.

“We were the only ones to volunteer because we thought it would be good to teach the children that if they drop litter, someone else has to go and pick it up.

“The group picked up quite a lot of litter and refreshments were laid on for us afterwards.” Photo (TIM WILSON): SG180213-115TW.
