Ever since she was taken to the hairdresser where her aunt worked as a child, Carly Simpson has dreamt of running her own salon.

Now after six years’ experience working alongside former Sutton Bridge hair designer Paul Davies, Carly (22) has set out on her own at a new salon in the village.

Beaut Hair Design in Bridge Road offers colouring, cutting and styling services for a growing number of clients from Holbeach, Long Sutton, Sutton Bridge and even Wisbech.

Carly said: “Having my own hair and beauty business is something I’ve always wanted to do since I was really young.

“I worked with Paul for six years but when I turned 21 in 2012, I just thought of going for it on my own.

“Paul was upset about me leaving but he always knew it was something I wanted to do and he was really supportive.”

Carly’s salon opened last month and it has quickly become a family affair as her mother, Rozel Churchill, and father, Steve Simpson, regularly help to keep the business going.

“My family is very supportive and they’re so pleased that I’ve opened the salon,” Carly said.

“It’s something my mum always wanted to do and she’s in the salon every day cleaning up, while my dad is my handyman.”

Carly hopes to build up her salon and eventually take on an apprentice to give them the same opportunity she had from Paul.

She said: “There are two chairs in my salon so in time it would be nice to have another girl with me and pass on my knowledge and experience.”
