A MAN who did national service with England cricket legend Freddie Trueman has delivered his own impressive ‘knock’ – 50 years as secretary of Spalding branch of The Royal Air Forces Association.
Colin Fisher (77) was stationed at RAF Hemswell with England bowler ‘Fiery Fred’ from 1952 to 1954.
The great-grandfather is still going strong as RAFA branch secretary but his milestone was recognised with national awards of a certificate and badge. RAFA members also threw a coffee morning in his honour. Colin was standard bearer for 46 years, Wings Appeal organiser for 30 years and welfare officer for between 15 and 20 years.
