THE owner of a collection of coins went home from a valuation day in Spalding with the good news that it was worth £6,500.
Warwick & Warwick auctioneer Alan Smith said there were a number of valuable collections brought in for valuation at the Woodlands Hotel on the most recent of his annual visits to the town.
A total of 40 people took collections of coins, stamps, cigarette cards and militaria for Alan to inspect, and he says there were four or five coin collections worth many thousands of pounds, as well as two or three Lincolnshire postcard collections worth between £500 and £800.
He said: “It was a really good day. People are still collecting and that reflects on the turnout on the day. It was a very busy day for me.”
