Community groups who donated towards the first phase of the refurbishment of Whaplode Drove’s “tin hut” – St John the Baptist Church’s church room – had a coffee morning to see how the work turned out.
The major improvement so far is a new door offering disabled access and better access for mums pushing prams and pushchairs.
Included in the donations were sums from a country fair, Whaplode Parish Council and Lincolnshire Co-operative.
In the spring, work will start on a major overhaul thanks to a £50,000 grant from the waste recycling organisation and work will include a new roof, toilet area and kitchen.
