CYCLISTS and walkers can take a closer look at Lincolnshire’s churches while raising money for charity on Saturday.
Residents from across the county are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Ride and Stride in aid of the Lincolnshire Churches Trust.
The event sees participants pick their own route, starting and finishing at any of the county’s churches between 10am-6pm.
Sponsorship can be collected for the number of churches visited or the number of miles travelled, and forms will be stamped at each church.
Churches taking part include Anglican, Methodist, United Reformed, Quaker and Roman Catholic.
The Rev Paul Hardingham, curate for the Gosberton Group and associate priest for the Glen Group, said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to support the Lincolnshire Churches Trust, which helps to maintain our historic buildings and churches.
“From the sponsorship money we raise, half will go to the trust and the other half will go to whichever church the walker or rider chooses to support.”
In Holbeach, there will be a treasure hunt, where the ‘treasures’ are the answers to the questions.
Holbeach is part of the East Elloe deanery, which also includes Whaplode, Fleet, Gedney, Lutton, Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge.
Sponsorship forms are available from all participating churches. For more information contact the Rev Paul Hardingham on 01775 840803 or Kim Biggs on 01406 426631.
