MANY friends of Moulton Methodist Church who contributed to its appeal for £2,000-plus attended a special strawberry buffet in the 1830 building.

The cash was needed to buy a set of new chairs for community groups which meet at the church as well as its congregation to use.

Church steward Val Venables said: “Our old chairs weren’t fit for purpose so I wrote begging letters asking for contributions towards replacing them.

“We’ve all been overwhelmed by the response which was very generous and provided all the money we needed to supplement what came in from the church flower festival. The supper was to thank everyone involved.”

Donors included All Churches Trust, Lincolnshire Co-operative Society, Lincolnshire County Council, South Holland District Council, John and Rita Dungworth in memory of Jean Dossitt and Dorothy Thompson in memory of Owen Thompson.
