A gecko, boa constricor, five day old chicks and four cute Spaniel pups were among the animal cast at More Creatures Great and Small at All Saints’ Church, Moulton, over the weekend.

Organiser Mary Brice said: “I think there was a tarantula as well but I didn’t get too near that one.”

Highlights included Sunday’s pet blessing service and appearances on Friday night by champion bird whistler Sheila Harrod and Yamaha keyboard specialist Mark Briggs.

Mark had just returned from Japan where he played to a 98,000-strong crowd in a football stadium.

Visitors were able to watch demonstrations, including horseshoeing, and meet pet therapists, guide dogs and rescue greyhounds.

Proceeds from the event, which have yet to be counted, will go to animal charities.
