ST MARY and St Nicolas Church in Spalding gave people a glimpse of its rich history and colour to mark Lincolnshire Heritage Weekend.

Visitors from Derbyshire, Kent and Leicestershire enjoyed a guided tour of the 13th century church and tower last Saturday.

There was also a flower workshop for creative guests who watched a demonstration by church flower arranger Christine van Egmond before having a go themselves.

Rev John Bennett, vicar of St Mary and St Nicolas, said: “two things came together for the Heritage Weekend – the guided tour which I led and the flower workshop.

“It’s a fascinating church and we’re very fortunate that it’s open 365 days a year.”
