Crowland residents got together to celebrate the start of Christmas last weekend.
There were two fairs going on in the town as well as the official switch on of the Christmas lights, performed this year by Young Achiever Joe Cole, who plays for the Under 9s in Crowland Juniors at the football club, plus Santa.
Rosemary Briston organised Crowland Abbey’s ninth St Nicholas Fair with, as in medieval times, a market held inside the abbey selling crafts and food. There was also musical entertainment and carols.
Around 350 adults plus children attended, raising around £1,000 for abbey funds.
Di Halliwell, assistant parish council clerk, said the town fair was also very successful, with almost 70 children visiting Santa in his grotto.
The event is organised each year by Crowland Christmas Lights Committee, with support from the parish council.
Di said: “It was good to see so many people out. It’s always well supported and something that locals in Crowland really enjoy because there are lots of stalls.”
