The town centre will be busy most of the day, with the 2014 Tulip Queen being announced in the afternoon followed by a school choir competition.

The new queen performs her first task at 7.15pm when she switches on the Christmas lights, transforming the town into a winter wonderland.

Ayscoughfee Hall Museum has a Winter Fair all weekend (10.30am to 4pm) where children can meet Father Christmas and enjoy magic sessions with Terry the Paper Wizard.

The fun continues on Sunday when visitors can see what Christmas was like at Ayscoughfee Hall 100 years ago.

In the town centre, there is a large Christmas Market with more than 80 stalls selling festive gifts and treats.

Full details of events and timings can be found on pages 30 and 31.
