AN insight into life as chief executive of the Falklands Islands entertained guests at the Rotary Club of Spalding’s charter dinner.

More than 110 guests turned out for the occasion to celebrate the club’s 75th anniversary.

Chris Simpkins, who held the post between 2003 and 2007, shared his experiences during a speech and slide show at the special event at Spalding’s Masonic Hall.

Mr Simpkins is also a former chief executive of South Holland District Council.

Rotary district governor Linda May also gave a speech during the evening.

As well as tucking into a three-course dinner, members and friends were entertained by a visiting comedian.
