Charlotte Whitmore, who works at Southfield House in Woolram Wygate, was presented with the Young Carer of the Year award at the Orders of St John Care Trust Lincolnshire staff awards this month.
The ceremony was held at Petwood House in Woodhall Spa, with the Special Awards presented to winners by Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Tony Worth.
Charlotte beat three other nominees to win the award for Young Carer of the Year.
Julie Whitmore, Charlotte’s mother, said: “She was nominated last year but she didn’t win so we are so pleased that she did this year as she works so hard.
“She’s been working in care for a few years but we have no idea where it comes from as we are market traders and have been for years.
“She helped look after her grandparents when they were getting older so maybe that’s it.”
Talking afte r the event, Charlotte said: “It’s great to have won!
“I was nominated by a number of people so that was really nice too – and everybody I work with has been lovely about the fact I won.
“I’ve been working here for three, nearly four, years but I’ve never been to the awards before so it was really exciting.
“I was given a glass plaque with my name on it – I’m pleased with it.”
