It was a time for celebrations at Molsom and Associates in Spalding recently.
Optometrist Andy Molsom wanted to recognise the business’s fifth anniversary in its current location in Hall Place.
And he had reason to do so, because he says since he moved his practice to 5 Hall Place business is better than ever.
The move to larger premises several doors down the same road was prompted by growing client numbers.
Andy said: “We’d been at number 27 Hall Place since we opened in 1997. By 2010, we were working at maximum capacity. Our client base had grown and we needed extra space. Specifically we needed another consulting room.”
The extra space has meant the practice now offers more facilities. For instance, there is a dedicated equipment room fitted out with the latest OCT technology. Over the last five years, the practice has taken on five more people – including another optometrist – taking the total number of staff to 14.
Andy says the move meant the practice could introduce new services too.
He said: “We’ve been able to take on another NHS contract to ‘triage and treat’ local referrals from opticians to hospital departments. It means patients are able to see an accredited optometrist on their own high street. That means they don’t have to go to hospital for minor eye conditions such as suspected glaucoma, high eye pressure, dry eyes and watery eyes.”
