TEENAGER Keziah Cawkwell received a cheque towards joining an expedition to Kenya and Tanzania next summer with 29 schoolmates.

Keziah (15), from Sutterton, is one of 30 fifth and sixth form pupils of Spalding High School who will fly to Africa in summer 2012 and help to build a school before travelling in the two countries.

Each must raise £2,000 before they go, and Keziah has started early gathering sponsorship.

She was handed the £344 cheque from Peterborough Freemasons, of which her father David is a member, by charity steward of the Petriburg Lodge Mervin Roberts.

She said: “I’ve made £697 so far and we’ll all be busy fundraising for a year!”
