The third in a series of free activity days run by South Holland District Council was the most successful to date.

More than 500 people enjoyed Activate! at Carter’s Park in Holbeach last week.

Among the attractions were a climbing wall, mobile skate park, sports and dance coaches and giant garden games plus activities supplied by South Holland and Boston arts project Transported.

A council spokesman said: “It was the busiest event to date.

“All the activities were being used all day long, which was great to see.

“Some youngsters were so keen to use the mobile skate park that they were waiting for it to be set up, and there was a constant queue for the climbing wall.”

Cllr Nick Worth, portfolio holder for Community, said: “This was another superb success.

“It was great to see so many youngsters making use of what we’d provided and it’s something we’ll look to do again next summer.”

Activate! is organised by the council’s Community Development Team in conjunction with Lincolnshire County Council’s Children’s Services, and is aimed at giving young people aged eight to 19 the opportunity to try a new activity.

A fourth event is scheduled for October, but the date and venue is still to be confirmed. Previous Activate! days this summer were held in Spalding and Gedney Hill.
