Caravan fire loses £2,500 for trust

MOULTON Seas End Ward Recreational Trust lost £2,500 in cash when fire destroyed a caravan.

Parish councillor Martin Clayton said the trust chairman and treasurer, Mick and Helen Warren, had been allowed to have the cash to pay off small bills.

But they were living in two caravans while renovating a farm house – and one of those was destroyed by fire while they were out celebrating their wedding anniversary.

Coun Clayton said the Warrens were left with only the clothes they stood up in but luckily their pet dog was safely in the other caravan.

He said the committee has had a job accessing funds because the bank account passwords were set up by a previous committee.

The committee could pay money in and had been managing “big” pay-outs because there was a chequebook – but the chequebook was also destroyed in the fire.

l The Spalding Guardian contacted Mrs Warren but she has not commented on the incident.
