EFFORTS to raise more than £10,000 for local charities have been given an early boost with a mystery £2,000 donation.

The cash was sent in by an anonymous donor to aid the Two Lips campaign within a week of it being launched in the Spalding Guardian.

The Rotary Club of Spalding is hosting Two Lips from May 14-21 in the hope of raising as much money as possible for four special organisations.

The idea is to get as many schools, voluntary groups, clubs and individuals as possible on board to hold a series of fundraising events throughout the week.

Spalding’s Phab, the League of Friends of the Spalding Hospitals, Scouts and Guides will all receive a slice of the cash, and a proportion will also go to Rotary International in aid of their nationally-supported charities.

There’s still plenty of time for everyone to get involved – all they need to do is come up with an idea for how to raise money.

This could be a dress down day, a cake stall, a talent show or a sporting challenge.

The organisers are also looking to recruit businesses and volunteers to sell special Two Lips whistles throughout the week for donations of 50p or above.

Registration forms to take part are available from any Rotary Club of Spalding member and from the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian offices in The Crescent, Spalding.

Alternatively, the forms can be downloaded from the Spalding Guardian website. A PDF version is available to download and print from www2.spaldingtoday.co.uk/two-lips-charity.pdf or in a Word document at www2.spaldingtoday.co.uk/two-lips-charity.docx

Once your form is complete, return it to the Spalding Guardian offices or the address listed on the form.

For more information about Two Lips, contact John Barnes on 01775 725514.

In the run-up to the week in May, the Spalding Guardian will be featuring the fundraisers taking part.
