Calling the tune

RNA interview.
RNA interview.

Keith Crawford and his wife, Yvonne, visited us on New Year’s Eve to tell us about receiving the MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.

The award is well deserved recognition of his service to naval personnel, former naval personnel, their families and their local communities, with whom Keith has worked since joining the Royal Naval Association 28 years ago.

The RNA is a charity for current and former Naval Service personnel, relatives and supporters of our country’s Royal Navy. Keith is chairman of the Royal Naval Association in Spalding as well as being the local area chairman and the RNA’s national vicechairman. Keith told us about his time with the charity and how his involvement increased at area and national level, including 13 years as a national council member. Little did he know that within three months of being “conned into joining” he would be the local branch chairman! He also spoke about the RNA’s work with “the naval family”: current and former personnel and their families.

At Tulip Radio, we are particularly grateful to members of the Spalding branch of the RNA, who have always helped us with the Christmas Lights switch-on, at the heart of the action, marshalling the children in the school choir competition.

We salute Keith for all the work he’s done for the RNA over the last 28 years both locally and nationally and congratulate him on his award. You can listen to a recording of Keith’s interview by visiting our website, www.tulip-radio.co.uk and clicking on the ‘Podcasts & Interviews’ link.
