ARMY cadets from Spalding detachment helped raise £600 to bring joy to soldiers fighting overseas.

The money will help Operation Shoebox which sends shoeboxes filled with gifts to soldiers who are fighting in wars.

To raise the money they took part in a sponsored static bike ride at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex.

The Thomas Cowley High School in Donington helped towards the total by holding a non-uniform day.

Money raised will either cover postage costs or go towards the cost of filling the boxes.

Detachment commander Sgt Frances Keane said: “The cadets were very excited about the amount they raised.”

The whole detachment took part in the fundraising.
