The plants have beautiful flowers and can be grown on a window sill, in a garden frame, conservatory or greenhouse.

For those who would like to learn more about these fascinating plants, there are a couple of talks taking place at Weston on Friday.

The Spalding branch of the British Cactus & Succulent Society is holding a meeting at Weston Village Hall (7pm for 7.30pm start).

The speaker is Rob Stevenson and one talk relates to the cultivation of cacti and succulents and the other covers a specific North American cactus genus.

Entrance is free – all ages welcome – plus table show.
