THE successes of young people who have gained extra qualifications after leaving school have been celebrated in Spalding.

The young people, aged between 16 and 18, have been taking part in the Training Lincs foundation programme run by Nacro.

Last week their efforts were recognised as they received certificates from 140 different units they have been working on since August.

The programme is aimed at those who have left school without the GCSE grades they need to secure employment.

Through Nacro, they are taught how to build up their CVs and covering letters, improve their confidence and even undertake work experience.

Joyce Cooper, Spalding’s team manager, said: “The awards night allowed us to celebrate their achievements since August.

“The chairman of the district council, Coun Mick Seymour, gave a few words of encouragement and we had the opportunity to thank everyone involved.”
