Lincolnshire will not challenge schools cash decision

COUNTY education bosses will not challenge the decision to scrap cash to rebuild Spalding’s Gleed schools.

Several authorities went to the High Court to challenge education minister Michael Gove’s decision to axe the Building Schools for the Future programme last week – where a judge ruled his decision was “unlawful”.

Lincolnshire County Council said it will not be able to challenge the decision because its projects were “not at a sufficient stage”.

Gleed Boys’ School head Geoff Cowley said the political will was not in favour of the school rebuilds going ahead and revealed all schools will also have to cope with an 80 per cent drop in the cash they get for upkeep of their buildings.
