A corner of Donington is becoming a shopper’s paradise with the opening of new home furnishings and gift shop.
Laura Simpson (30) is the driving force behind Laura Loves in the village’s Market Place where customers can find a wide range of cushions, ceramics, textiles and ornaments.
The mother of three boys, Laura said: “We opened on Saturday, February 4, and we’ve been really busy.
“Things have gone a lot better than I expected and we’re getting really good feedback from people saying they like the shop and that it’s nice to have something local.
“I started the business online through (social media site) Facebook and it really took off.
“So when I saw this shop come up for renting, I thought ‘I’ve not got anything to lose.’”

Laura’s passion for starting a soft furnishings and homeware business began in earnest after her time at Swineshead St Mary’s Primary School and Thomas Cowley High School in Donington.
But the seeds were sown much earlier in life through her parents’ soft furnishings business in Bicker.
Laura said: “I’ve always grown up with cushions, throws and curtains, just falling into the business through my parents doing it and going to trade shows with them.
“They both think Laura Loves is brilliant and they’re really pleased with the shop, just like my boys who are happy and excited about it as well.”
Laura is trading initially on a three-month trial basis which will be extended if sales continue to be brisk. She said: “I have a real passion for homeware and interiors which is where the name of the shop comes from.”
