The best business in South Holland is to be unveiled at a stellar celebration of excellence in enterprise across the district next month.
Spalding and District Chamber of Commerce members are working hard on the first-ever South Holland Enterprise Day and Business Awards to be staged at Springfields Events and Conference Centre, Spalding, on November 20.
The event’s highlight will be the naming of the Business of the Year 2013, an award being sponsored by Spalding horticultural firm Butters Group for the enterprise matching increased profitability and economic progress with innovative production and geographical expansion.
Andy Coaten, managing director of Butters, said: “We were asked if we would be prepared to support something that I think has some good value and as we employ a lot of people in the area, I thought it would be good to see other businesses that were succeeding.
“There are certain causes that Butters likes to support and the organisers of the Business Awards know that our business is enthusiastic enough to sponsor the Business of the Year Award.
“It’s exciting that something new for businesses is happening in South Holland and that a team of people is working hard to promote this event.
“We’re not going to see an instant payback but over time, it will allow companies to show what positive things are being done and it would be good to see businesses in the area supporting it.”
Firms with an annual turnover of more than £2 million are welcome to enter the category which will be judged on criteria, including financial performance, market development and contribution to the South Holland economy.
In total, there are six award categories to be decided by a panel of judges and for more details, visit www.spaldingareachamber.co.uk
