JOBS at the Thorntons outlet in Spalding town centre are not under threat.
Following a story in the Lincolnshire Free Press last week, we have been asked to point out there is no risk to staff who work at the store within Hills department store.
We incorrectly stated that staff at Spalding’s two stores were anxiously awaiting news about their future following Thorntons’ decision to close half of its UK shops.
Darryl Simpson, managing director of Hills Department Store, said: “Thorntons within Hills department store is a franchise and as such is under the control of Hills.
“Indeed, in Thorntons update to the city in which it announced the closure of up to 120 of its own stores, expressed the intention to open more franchises to maintain Thorntons’ presence on the high street.
“The staff at the franchise in Hills are employed by the department store and have been kept fully up to date with Thorntons press releases and their implications and are in no way waiting ‘anxiously’ for news.”
We apologise for the error.
Thorntons has a shop at Springfields Outlet Shopping.
