A project to convert a bed and breakfast in Saracen’s Head into a home for people with learning difficulties could be under threat.

Plans to turn Pipwell Manor into an “assisted living care facility” have come under attack from people living nearby who fear having their lives blighted by loud music, bad language and vandalism.

The plans by Portsmouth-based care providers Regard Partnership were due to be discussed by members of South Holland District Council’s planning committee last night.

But a report prepared for the meeting said: “There is no overriding or demonstrable need for the proposed development in this unsustainable location.”

The planning committee was also due to consider plans by Moulton Chapel grower Lucksbridge Nurseries to build new glasshouses and biomass plant rooms in order to grow plans and herbs more economically.
